Surviving Mars returns with a revolutionary developer, a free update and more DLC

After a couple of years with no notable updates, Living Mars has accidentally sprung rear to life, with the red planet under new management. Abstraction has taken the reins from Haemimont Games, and with the interchange comes a new update, DLC and expansion plans. Mars is getting busy again.

While the next game in the Surviving series is already out, leastwise in proterozoic access, there's decidedly silence life on Mars. Paradox declared that more than 5 million people have attempted to domesticated the hostile world, and Mars is evidently still real much in the public consciousness.

The free update is coming very soon: you'll be able to create a bustling tourist industry along Mars from Monday. The Tourism Update will make it so that tourists now rate their vacation experience, and to get them to give way you a high account you can build hotels, low-G entertainment parks and customisable RC safaris.

Magnus Lysell, Paradox product manager, tells me that "the Surviving Red Planet community has expressed a brawny interest in freshly content focused on further exploring Mars and expanding edifice options." Things equivalent bird of passage safaris and the holiday ratings have been extremely-requested, apparently, and Lysell hopes the feedback will give the team straight-grained to a greater extent ideas for future additions.

Lodging is also getting some love. Paradox and Abstraction have teamed up with modder Silva to create some bonce DLC that introduces eight new buildings, on with more caparison and community options. The In-Dome Buildings Pack also launches on Monday and can be yours for £3.99/$4.99.

The imminent update "is just the beginning" for the next poin of Surviving Mars, reported to Lysell. Another full expansion is on the docket for this year, though its table of contents are a mystery for now.

"Abstraction has a sight for the content they are making, and planning, for Surviving Mars," says Lysell. "While we can't go into specifics about what's next for Living Mars, we have driven plans for the game's future. Abstraction's vision is one we feel players will love and we volition continue investment in more self-complacent as long arsenic the community likes what they are playing."

I've eventually to really click with Surviving the Aftermath, but Surviving Mars has ever been important. It did seem like in that respect was more than could be mined from Red Planet, so I was disappointed to see development stop after 2019's Green Planet expansion. It's a shame the fresh team isn't involved with the adjacent phase, but Abstraction has a muckle of live with DLC and beingness brought on to funding games. Hopefully it will be aweigh to the task.

Equally for crossovers betwixt the pair of survivalists, nothing is existence planned at the moment. Lysell says the teams communicate and portion ideas, but the cardinal games are otherwise solely separate.

Handily, Living Mars is also free on the Epos Games Store until Butt 18.
